The Philippines own version of Singing Bee premiered on ABS-CBN 2 last night, I wasn't able to see it, but I know that Singing Bee is a Karaoke Game Show in America seen on NBC and it is hosted by Joey Fatone, member of the defunct group NSYNC and it is produced by Zeal productions. Now ABS-CBN holds the TV rights to produce a local version of the show and it is hosted by Cesar Montano.
The contestants of the game show will simply sing a song from a Karaoke, they do not need to know the tunes as long as they can guess the correct lyrics and the winner wins P1,000,000.
The mechanics of the show is somewhat similar to GMA-7's All-Star K which is hosted By Allan K and Jaya. If people do not know that Singing Bee was originated from U.S. they can think that it was a copy cat. However Singing Bee premiered in U.S. just this 2007 of July, we can say that NBC copied it from All-Star K, we do not know.
Singing Bee has been on and off the air on NBC due to low ratings, now we'll see if the Local version of Singing Bee will do good.
