Manny Pacquiao remains under the roof of Solar Sports and GMA 7, that was the Pambansang Kamao's final decision which he relayed through a statement read by his legal councel Atty. Franklin Gacal. In connection to this, Pacman's May 2 fight against Ricky Hatton will air on GMA 7.
A couple of days ago Manny Pacquiao decided to give the airing rights of his upcoming fight to ABS-CBN and turned down his contract with Solar Sports. This was also a sign that Pacman is also dropping down his existing contract with GMA 7 which he top-bills two shows "Pinoy Records" and "Totoy Bato". Both Solar Sports and GMA 7 did'nt like his actions and decided that they will take legal actions to protect their rights. This incident also heated up the rivalry between the top 2 networks ABS-CBN and GMA 7. And there were expectations from columnists that Pacquiao intended to transfer to ABS-CBN becuse the network offered him support for his rumored candidacy for the 2010 Elections.
For days Pacman was the talk of the town because of his drastic actions, many were not in favor of what he did. So yesterday March 21, Pacquiao decided to clean up the mess he did. He relayed an official statement through his attorney saying that MP Promotions will respect the leagl and binding contract with Solar Sports and made sure that his next match on May 2 will air on GMA 7 under the supervised by Solar. At the end of his staement Pacman apologized to the fans because his actions caused confusion and said that he will forget all controversies and just focus on his training for his match against Ricky Hatton.
This was not the first time that Manny Pacquiao turned down an existing contract, if you would recall couple of years ago Pacman was involved in the same incident after he transferred from Golden Boy Promotions to Bob Arum's Top Rank Promotions. He could have thought about that doing mess would only cause him to lose his focus to his next match so he decided to fix it.
