American Idol 9 Results: Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady Were Eliminated

American Idol 9 had it's first result night last Friday. I have here the full recap of the show. Ryan Seacrest started the show by announcing that over 24 Million votes came in for that week. And the judges gave some assesments. The Top 24 performed "American Boy" by Estelle in the opening number.

Ryan proceeded with the elimination process starting with the girls, the same plot as usual dim the lights, back row stand up. Siobhan goes first...she's safe, Haeley was next...she stays for another week, Michelle...is safe too, Katelyn's turn...she is safe, Katie and Janell were left standing, who goes home? It's Janell Wheeler. Janell sang her final song.

American Idol 9 Recap: Top 12 Boys Performance

Last Thursday on American Idol 9, it was the Top 12 boy's time to take the centerstage and impress the judges and the people of America to get votes. And I think it's safe to say that the boys are better than the girls.

Todrick Hall - "Since You been Gone" (Kelly Clarkson) - Ellen said "You're such a great performer...I live that you did something diffrent with it". Kara and Randy thought that the song was over re-arranged. Simon said “I thought it was a crazy arrangement of the song..murdered the original song…it was verging on stupid what you just did.”.

Aaron Kelly - "Here Comes Goodbye" (Rascall Flatts) - Simon said "It actually was quite a good performance...you look as if you're embarassed to be there". Kara, Randy and Ellen liked it.

American Idol 9 Recap: Top 12 Girls Performance

I have the here transcribed recap of the American Idol 9 Top 12 Girls performance, this is American Idol's first live episode for this season. The girls took the center stage, let's take a recap and see who stepped up and who did not?

Paige Miles - "Alright Now"(Free) - Simon said "I Think you have the best voice"..."I would'nt have chosen that song", and called it a wedding singer kind of song. But the other judges Randy, Ellen and Kara thought it was a great performance.

Ashley Rodriguez - "Happy" (Leona Lewis) - Kara said "Big song...nice moments...you hit those notes...but there were moments that were'nt great...I want you to take on diffrent songs" Randy and Ellen thought it was'nt original and Ellen thought that Ashley should take a risk. Simon said "I thought it was clumsy...I think you're going backwards.

"So, nagawa ko na dati. Wala akong pakialam sa mga sasabihin nila... Alam mo yun, masarap lang na nag-aayos ka ulit. Ginagawa mo or sinusuot mo ang mga gusto mong suutin. E, lahat naman talaga may masasabi sa 'yo. Kahit ayos na nga ang damit mo, may masasabi pa rin sa 'yo, di ba? Hahanapan at hahanapan ka ng butas. So, alam na alam ko na 'yan na may mga lalabas na ganyan."

ABS-CBN and GMA Network's Official Statement About the New COMELEC Ruling

ABS-CBN and GMA released their official statements regarding the COMELEC ruling that stars who endorses candidates for the 2010 Elections should take a leave of absence or resign from their respective tv programs during the entire campaign period

ABS-CBN's statement:

The call for ABS-CBN talents who endorse candidates to go on leave during the campaign period is not required by the Fair Election Act or its implementing rules and regulations. Section 36 of Comelec Resolution No. 8758 in relation to Section 1(4) thereof and the Fair Election Act merely requires that media practitioners such as talents “shall not use his/her time or space to favor any candidate.” In this regard, it is ABS-CBN’s policy that its talents may not use any program to endorse or promote any candidate. This policy is strictly enforced by the network.

The provision of law cited by the PPCRV and Comelec that requires media personalities to either resign or go on leave applies to employees only. Talents are not employees of the network and, therefore, the said provision does not apply to them.

Kris Allen Live in Manila

American Idol Season 8 winner Kris Allen is here in Manila for his concert which will be held in February 5 and 6. The first one will be in SMX Concert Ground Taguig and the second one will be in Cebu. This concert is courtesy of Fearless Production the same team that also brought us the AI Season 7 winners David Cook and David Archuleta last year. For sure this will be another jam-packed concerts. I just think it will be much better if Fearless also brought Adam Lambert here in the Philippines. Adam Lambert may have just finished in American Idol as a runner-up to Kris Allen but Adam is making much noise and his debut album is doing much better in sales. But anyway Kris Allen is still the American Idol and it's great that he visited Manila.

Upto this moment I don't wanna listen to any song other than "Whataya Want From Me". The song is very strong and catchy and it seemed to be a hybrid of pop and glamrock.
