"Pepito Manaloto" Hits the Jackpot Debuting no.1 in Mega Manila

"Pepito Manaloto", GMA-7's first ever Reality Sitcom starring Michael V. literally hit the jackpot when it debuted no. 1 in Mega Manila Household Ratings last Sunday March 28, 2010. "Pepito Manaloto" got a rating of 28.2% to steal the top spot from ABS-CBN's "Pilipinas Got Talent" which got a 25.5% rating. This is base on the overnight household survey of AGB Nielsen from March 26-29, 2010. "Pepito Manaloto" is the story of this guy Pepito who wants to get rich and his way to achieve his dream is via "lotto". "Pepito Manaloto" is a brainchild of Michael V. and also starring in this wacky sitcom are Manilyn Reynes and Carmina Villaroel. Actually this newest sitcom from GMA-7 is very timely and it reflects the reality of our country. A lot of people wants to get rich in an instant, and their way to do it is to fall in line in the lottery outlets and bet for 6 numbers that they though would make them rich. Now I understand what a "Reality Sitcom" means.

ASAP XV Still Beats "Party Pilipinas" Nationwide

GMA-7's "Party Pilipinas" which had a festive grand launch last Sunday failed to beat it's rival ASAP XV on ABS-CBN. Based on the Nationwide survey conducted by Taylor Nelson Sofres(TNS) last March 26-29, 2010, ASAP XV still prevailed with 18.5% against "Party Pilipinas" 14.5%. The Kapuso stars were all out in supporting GMA's newest Sunday noontime show, it's premiere was also highly publicised and GMA-7 even acquired the international choreographer "Fusion" but they still could'nt get the job done. But anyway it's just the beginning, "Party Pilipinas" could still improve in the days to come. Sa totoo lang kasi wala pa ring pinagkaiba sa SOP.

Party Pilipinas Premieres with a Bang

The much anticipated premiere of GMA-7's newest Sunday noontimeshow "Party Pilipinas" happened yesterday, and it was a grand launch. Almost all the Kapuso stars were present to support "Party Pilipinas", and the production numbers are remarkable and the cast headed by Janno Gibbs, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya and Regine Velasquez gave everything they got to make the "Party Pilipinas" premiere a TV milestone. The only thing we have to watch out for is the ratings, did "Party Pilipinas" beat it's rival ASAP XV? And let's say it won in the pilot episode, can "Party Pilipinas" maintain it?

Arnel Pineda Faces Complaints for Re-arranging our National Anthem "Lupang Hinirang"

Arnel Pineda is the latest casualty of the National Historic Institute after he tweaked the Philippine National Anthem "Lupang Hinirang" during the Pacquiao-Clottey fight in the Cowboy Stadium in Dallas. Arnel Pineda hit a high pitch note at the last part of the "Lupang Hinirang" which according to NHI is not in accordance with the arrangement of the composer Julian Felipe. The National Historic Institute said that they are now filing a complaint against Arnel Pineda and if proven guilty, the singer will be fined a worth of P5,000 to 20,000 or spend one year in jail. That's too bad for Arnel Pineda, why do he had to use our National Anthem as his diva moment? Was he thinking like he was on American Idol? Everybody knows that he can sing but he should'nt have done that. He murdered "Lupang Hinirang". He became the lead vocalist of The Journey but he could'nt even sing the National Anthem properly, did'nt he learned from the people who sang "Lupang Hinirang" in Pacquiao's match in the past like Martin Nievera. And for the National Historic Institute, all you do is bragging that you're gonna file complaints against those violators but none of them were ever fined show an example guys.

Manny Pacquiao Defeated Joshua Clottey Via Unanimous Decision

The Pound for pound king Manny Pacquaio has defeated Joshua Clottey of Ghana Africa via unanimous decision in front of a 51,000 sold out crowd in the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas Texas to retain his WBO Welterweight Championship. The bout lasted for 12 rounds due to Joshua Clottey's defense which did'nt give Manny Pacquiao a chance to knock him down. Although Clottey has that tremendous defense he did'nt took a risk in throwing punches against Manny. But I gotta say this guy is though, Pacquiao's punches are hitting his arms which he used to cover his face and he also took a lot of body shots but he lasted taking all those punishments for 12 rounds. If only Joshua Clottey was relentless in throwing punches against Manny Pacquiao, it could have been a different kind of bout. But whatever happened, our Pambansang Kamao was still the winner and we'll take that victory.

"Panday Kids" and "The Last Prince" Bested "Agua Bendita" and "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo"

After being on a loosing skid, GMA Telebabad finally toppled Kapamilya's primetime winning combination "Aqua Bendita" and "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" last March 8, 2010 based on the AGB Nielsen data for Mega Manila. GMA-7's "Panday Kids" scored 33.7%  and "The Last Prince" scored 33.3% against "Agua Bendita"  and "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo's" identical 32.1%. Perhaps the "Panday Kids" marathon last March 7 Sunday helped the fantaserye earned some viewership. And take a look, Kapuso Movie Festival Presents "Sundo" starring Robin Padilla was able to beat ASAP XV, something the the defunct SOP Fully Charged was'nt able to do.

Ruffa Gutierrez vs. Kris Aquino

Yesterday I was watching Showbiz Central, and suddenly Pia Guanio announced that they recieved a breaking news that Ruffa Gutierrez walked out of the set of The Buzz because of her co-host Kris Aquino. So what caused Ruffa to walked out from her show? Here is what happened, during the P.O.V segment of The Buzz, Kris Aquino told Ruffa Gutierrez "Ruffa, aminin mo, iba ang level ng saya dito", what Kris meant by that statement is the upcoming transfer of Ruffa Gutierrez to TV5, Ruffa seemed to not liked that so she answered Kris with "Well, I know, you don't have to rub it in, Kris. Siyempre, I'm sad din, so sana huwag mo namang, you know, dagdagan." Then just before the commercial Ruffa stood up from her chair and left Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino.

Ellen-"I thought it was really really the right song choice, but it could have used a little bit soul to it...Just try to feel the song a tiny tiny bit more."
Kara-"Way better than last week...You need to let loose and get out of that comfort zone of yours...You're alittle bit safe"

Richard Gutierrez Renews His Contract With GMA and Could Host Survivor Philippines

Richard Gutierrez formalizes his ties with the Kapuso Network after signing another exclusive contract for GMA-7. The contract signing was held last Friday afternoon with Richard's mother and manager Ms. Annabelle Rama and the GMA executives. One of the shows he will be doing is of course Captain Barbell but there are also some rumors confirming that Richard will be the new host of Survivor Philippines Season 3. If that's true, it means that GMA-7 and Richard's management were able to fix the schedule conflict with the two shows. Actually, Richard is the fittest one to host Survivor Phillippines, since he did documentaries about nature before, and I can imagine him saying "Survivors Ready!".
