ABS-CBN Airs "The Price is Right" to Go Head to Head with "Willing Willie"

ABS-CBN will air the Philippine's own version of the longest running and hit game show in the U.S. "The Price is Right" and it will be hosted by the "Queen of All Media" Miss. Kris Aquino.

"The Price is Right" is said to going head to head with Willie Revillame's game-variety show on TV 5 "Willing Willie". "The Price is Right" will give away a lot of big prizes like a brand new car, condominium and millions of Pesos to all the winners. "The Price is Right" will air on Philippine TV starting February 2011.

The Kapamilya Network have finally decided to fight head to head with Willie Revillame's "Willing Willie", they (ABS-CBN) seemed to have had enough of Willie taking over the primetime race and beating their banner news program TV Patrol, the powers of  Noli de Castro, Korina Sanches, and Ted Failon was not enough to shut Willie. And I believe this is the best thing for ABS-CBN to do, if they want to shut Willie, they need to do it fair and square, not by filing charges and TROs just to prevent "Willing Willie" from airing, those moves are cheap and desperate.

F.Y.I:

This is not the first local version of "The Price is Right" in the Philippines, like what others are claiming. During 2001, ABC 5 (currently known as TV 5) bought the rights to air a local version of "The Price is Right" (with Dawn Zulueta as the host) as a response to the phenomenal success of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" which airs every weeknights on IBC 13 which was then hosted by Christopher De Leon under the production of VIVA Television. ABC 5 launched three game shows during that time to go head to head with "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", the other two game shows along with "The Price is Right" were "Family Fued" hosted by Ogie Alcasid, (GMA-7 also had a version of this game show in 2009 which was hosted by Richard Gomez and Dingdong Dantes.) The other was "The Wheel of Fortune" which was hosted by Rustom Padilla known today as BB Gandanghari (ABS-CBN also had a version of "Wheel of Fortune" back in 2008, it was hosted by Kris Aquino.)
