The American Idol Season 11 was highly anticipated by the Filipino audience here in the country to show moral support to Fil-Mexican finalist Jessica Sanchez who finished as a runner-up to Phillip Phillips. But in America, things turned out quite different as the American Idol 11 Finale registered the lowest ratings ever.
According to an article from Foxnews.com American Idol 11 Finale's preliminary Neilsen Ratings shows that 20.7 million viewers the finale show on Wednesday night which is quite a great number of audience for almost any other show, but for American Idol alone, this year's ratings is a 29 percent drop from last season.
If the preliminary number holds, it would make Season 11's finale the least watched ever. Season One's finale had 23 million viewers. The show's high point was Season Two, in 2003, with over 38 million viewers.
Early Nielsen figures also show "Idol" losing more that a third of its viewers in the 18-49 year old age group, which advertisers prize.
