Jessica Sanchez Makes it to the American Idol Season 11 Finale!

Jessica Sanchez made it to the American Idol Season 11 Finale! The 16 year old Filipino-Mexican was the first to be declared safe from elimination by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Jessica will be joined by Phillip Phillips in the top 2 for the grand finale next week.

Front-runner Joshua Ledet wasn't able to make it in the top 2 due to low number of votes.

Jessica making it to the top 2 is the farthest that a Filipino decent has ever gone into the American Idol Finale. The other half Filipino who went the farthest was Jasmine Trias during American Idol Season 3 but she was eliminated at the top 3 spot.

Both Jessica and Phillip will perform 3 songs each in the 2-hour performance episode on May 22, Thursday, to be aired live starting 8:00 am morning via the cable channels Star World and ETC.

Too bad Joshua got eliminated, he and Jessica Sanchez were my bets for the finale. And who would have thought the Phillip Phillips whom I thought was the most under rated among the top 3 made it to the finale with Jessica. We truly cannot predict the was the American Idol audience in the U.S. thinks.

If I will base my opinions according to talent and star factor, no doubt that Jessica Sanchez will win. But as I said, we cannot predict the way the American Idol audience in the U.S. thinks. All we can do is keep our fingers cross that they cast in the right vote.

And not only that, more odds are stacked against Jessica, since Season 7, all the American Idol winners were male: David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and Scotty McCreery. That's one heck of a streak.

I want Jessica Sanchez to win, not only because she is a half Filipina but because I believe that she is the most talented American Idol finalist for this season. And as an American Idol fan, I observed that the popularity and prestige of the talent search has been deteriorating over the years since season 8, and I thought that a female winner and a credible result would bring back the show in the driver's seat. Go Jessica!
