I've always been a fan of Angel Locsin. I admire her kindness and advocasies for women empowerment. But in this past few days, I was dissapointed with the way she reacted regarding the issues involving her boyfriend Phil Younghusband and the rest of his Azkals teammates.
The whole incident began when GMA-7 reporters Arnold Clavio and Rhea Santos had some exchange of opinions in GMA-7's morning show Unang Hirit regarding the sexual harassment complains filed by Philippine Sports Commission President Cristy Ramos to some members of the Azkals Football team.
GMA Netwok then recieved a letter from the Philippine Football Federation accusing Arnold Clavio and other Unang Hirit hosts and refered to their opinions as racism.
Angel Locsin adressed the whole issue on her Twitter account and in a tv interview. She said that she feels bad for her boyfriend Younghusband who is working so hard in every football game to represent the Philippines but still, a journalist like Arnold Clavio would still question the Azkal's citizencship.
I thought that Angel Locsin is intelligent to judge the issue, but I was absolutely wrong. Angel Locsin is among those people who wants to divert the public's attention to Arnold Clavio and cover the sexual harassment case against the Azkals.
Let me remind those narrow minded people including Angel Locsin. The issue is not about whether the members of the Azkals football team are Filipinos or not. The real issue is about sexual harassment which is one of the major issues being battled by women all over the world including Filipinas.
Angel is an ambassadress of a womens group called Gabriela whose advocasies is to defend the Filipino women against all sort of abuse including sexual harassment. And with the actions shown by Angel, I'm sorry if I'm gonna say this, but I think Angel Locsin is a hypocrite.
She could have chosen to remain silent and neutral about the issue, but instead, she decided to consent the Azkals illicit actions towads Filipino women. And take note, this is not the first time that the Azkals football team were involved in sexual abuse, so it just mean there is something wrong with their behavior and Angel Locsin is being blinded to see that.
