Barbie Amused by Tandem with Andre

CAREER TURN: Teen star Barbie Forteza is at a loss on how to channel her career to the next level.

In a conversation at a Baguio City hotel following a free show mounted by GMA in line with recently held Panagbenga flower festival, the young actress admitted she couldn’t be playing sweet, innocent roles forever.
“However, I have a problem with my height,” she acknowledged.
At a little over 5-feet, Barbie fears she might get typecast in youthful roles. On the other hand, she doesn’t believe she’ll be credible in mature, sexy parts.
Or will she? She finds inspiration from a fellow journalist’s comment that Vilma Santos is herself petite but the Batangas governor managed to slip into sexy roles at the height of her career. Vilma earned both critical and commercial acclaim as the star of “Burlesk Queen” in the late 1970s.

‘THE HALF SISTERS’ EXTENDED: In Barbie’s running series, “The Half Sisters,” she once more plays the good girl who’s perpetually being bullied by the character played by Thea Tolentino.
Barbie’s partnership with Andre Paras, all of six-feet plus, has created quite a following despite the obvious height difference, which Barbie herself finds amusing. Tall and short, that’s how their loveteam is known. The loveteam reminds of the height gap between Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III back then.
Barbie says she doesn’t know the network’s next moves after “The Half Sisters.” It seems like she need not fret. The show has been doing wonderfully well, and is now approaching its first anniversary. It has been extended twice but may reach its finale this summer.
