Unfinished Business: The Aftermath

After Manny Pacquiao defeated the Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez in a tough battle last March 16 in Las Vegas and becoming the WBC(World Boxing Council) Super Featherweight Champion of the World, some sports analysts are not convinced with Pacman's victory. Critics says that Pacquiao did not really won that match and that his knock down in the early going of that match saved him from loosing.

The result of that match was a very close split decision, one of the judge gave a 114-113 score in favor of Pacman, and another judge gave a 115-112 score in favor of Marquez meaning Marquez leads the match in terms of points. According to boxing experts from star up to finish it was obvious that Marquez was the best fighter among the the two and that the judges only gave Pacquiao the win because he is more marketable and much more popular than Marquez.

Every time this two fighters squares off in the ring, controversies regarding the match arises, way back in 2004 it was Marquez who won after being knocked down trice but still managed to come back and escape with a draw. That match was also controversial due to the judges scoring. Now it was Pacquiao who is doubted for his victory.

The critics have two gave two options to resolve this issue, either the WBC(World Boxing Council) investigate about Pacman's victory, whether a scoring error occurred during the match or whether a game fixing took place. And another option is a rematch between Many Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. Above the two options, having a rematch is more decent, if ever a rematch will take place and Pacman wins, he can prove that he beat Marquez fair and square and it will clear any shadow of a doubt from critics. According to Manny Pacquiao he is ready for a rematch and believes he will still win that.

Anyway tomorrow is the scheduled arrival of Manny Pacquiao and a grand heroes welcome surely awaits the Boxing Hero of the Philippines.
