The Battle for Talent Search Supremacy has officially started. It's between GMA 7's Pinoy Idol and ABS-CBN's Pinoy Dream Academy.
I remember last year this two Talent Search also battled it out, Pinoy Idol was Philippine Idol at that time and was airing at ABC-5 and Pinoy Dream Academy airs on ABS-CBN and both shows were hosted by Ryan Agoncillo. Both of this contest was quashed by critics during that time because of low ratings.
Now there getting it on again, this time Pinoy Idol is now seen on GMA 7 now hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, and Pinoy Dream Academy on ABS-CBN is hosted by Billy Crawford and Toni Gonzaga.
Pinoy Idol has been airing for weeks, and this Sunday the Final 12 will be chosen. But unfortunately, Pinoy Idol is getting negative feed backs from the critics. One of the things being criticize in the show is the stage, GMA seemed to have made a cost cutting for the stage it,s so small and the audience can be counted by fingers, and they are all relatives and friend of the contestant. Another is the hosting style of Raymond Gutierrez, he is so socialite and cannot interact with the masses. And finally, the contestant, they have no x-factor actually I'm wondering, are there really people wasting their loads to vote for the contestant? And the way they choose the song and performs, it seemed their only singing in a karaoke contest. And last Friday one of the contestant Sue Ellen sang "Thank You" by Dido, give the viewers a break, that song is not for prestigious competition, it's only for School program.
While on the Pinoy Dream Academy's side, the stage is amazing and the audience are lively. And Toni Gonzaga and Billy Crawford does one heck of a good hosting job. And I find the contestant talented, they choose nice songs and does a very high performance level. Very far from what the Pinoy Idol contestants are showing.
