Joey De Leon Speaks; Part 2

Just when everyone thought that the intrigues about Eat Bulaga's U.S show are over, just like a movie it has a sequel.

After resigning from Manila Bulletin last week, TV host-comedian Joey De Leon put out everything from his chest in his interview in Startalk. His statement is still about the article published in a tabloid saying that Eat Bulaga's show in Los Angeles was a dismaying flop. That article was written by columnist Dindo Balares. What made Joey dismayed is because the tabloid is the sister company of Manila Bulletin where he has his own column.

According to Joey it's OK with him if that columnist just said that Eat Bulaga's U.S tour s**** at least that his own opinion, but what psst Joey off was the statement written which Joey quited "sa katunayan, mismong GMA executive ang nagkuwento sa akin na flop ang show ng Eat Bulaga."

After that Joey issued a challenge to the columnist, Joey said he will give the said columnist a free hotel accommodation in the U.S plus a whopping $5,000 cash if he could name the GMA Executive who said the EB's show in L.A was a flop. And another challenge was issued for the GMA executives, Joey said he will resign from all his shows in GMA once he heard that GMA has invited that columnist in press cons held in GMA. Of course Eat Bulaga is exempted because the noontime show is not produced by GMA.

Wow Joey De Leon is really dismayed about this issue, he is willing to loose his job just to fight for what he believes. Anyway after resigning from Manila Bulletin Joey De Leon will be moving to The Philippine Star.

More Pinoy Adaptations

The Philippine Prime time Television has totally been reshaped thanks to the two giants ABS-CBN and GMA. It's is now the era of Pinoy Adapted TV programs.

This trend on Primetime TV isn't new, and ABS-CBN and GMA was not the ones who started it. Back in 2001 IBC 13 and VIVA TV introduced the "Game Show Era", aqcuiring the TV rights for the popular Game Shows from U.S and UK which are "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and "The Weakest Link". Both those shows changed the prime time viewing habit of Filipinos. ABC 5 wouldn't want to be left behind so the network introduced 3 foreign Game Shows, "If The Price Is Right", "Family Feud", and "Wheel Of Fortune", Yeah the Wheel Of Fortune that was also aired on ABS and hosted by Kris Aquino.

Now ABS-CBN and GMA are introducing their own brand of canned shows. Before this ABS-CBN already have Pinoy Big Brother, Pinoy Dream Academy, Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, The Singing Bee, and Wheel Of Fortune, while GMA 7 has Pinoy Idol, Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade Five?. Those shows are from other country and was adapted into our own style.

And the latest show abroad to be aired locally are Survivor Philippines, which originated from the U.S and hosted by Jeff Probst. This show was a big hit in the U.S back in 2000. The show changed the trend of Television forever. Survivor introduced Reality TV and the challenges, and the voting of until one is left standing. The Pinoy version will be hosted by Paolo Bediones and it's already shooting it's episodes in Thailand.

ABS-CBN on the other hand is cooking something, a reality show that has similar formats with Survivor, where the contestants have to eat worms, lizards, live fish, climb a skyscraper and many other defying challenges. It's The Pilipinas Fear Factor, Kapamilya's version of Fear Factor that also made a mark on TV. Before Eat Bulaga had a version of this show called Sige Ano Kaya Mo?(Sakmo) that was censored by MTRCB and Congressmen due to it's graphic nature, now I don't think they will censor this anymore because it's already accepted by the Pinoy viewers. The show will anyway be hosted by Ryan Agoncillo.

And ABC 5 will not be left behind, they're also joining the game, as a part of the network's reformat ABC will have Talentadong Pinoy, their own version of 30 Seconds To Fame. And the show will also be hosted by Ryan Agoncillo. Lucky break for him after being vacated by a couple of months, now he will be hosting two shows from 2 different networks.

Let's see whose show will emerge on top.
