Party Pilipinas Replaces SOP Fully Charged

After 13 years of airing, GMA-7's Sunday variety show SOP Fully Charged will be axed. SOP Fully Charged will have it's final aring on February 28, 2010 but it will be replaced by a new program called "Party Pilipinas". But before "Party Pilipinas" premieres, SOP Fully Charged will be temporarily pre-empted by Kapuso Movie Festival for three weeks.

Low ratings was the reason for the axing of SOP Fully Charged. We would recall that SOP(Sobrang Okey Pare) had a reformat and became SOP Fully Charged, but that was'nt enough to topple ABS-CBN's star-studded Sunday show ASAP XV. SOP Fully Charged have been badly beaten by it's rival show in the rating games that even Jolina Magdangal's controversial new look was not enough to save the show.

In the new show "Party Pilipinas", the main hosts of SOP Fully Charge Janno Gibbs, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez and Jaya will still be in, plus Jay-R, Kyla and La Diva, while the fate of the other mainstays still hangs in the balance.

I'm not sure if this will work, new show but the same casts. I think the main reason why SOP Fully Charged lost to ASAP XV is because of the casts. GMA should put the younger and new breeds of performers in the mainstream. I'm not saying that Janno, Ogie, Regine, and Jaya are old, but look at ASAP's line-up, all of them are young, fresh and the viewers of this generations love them. Of course they have Gary V. and Martin Nievera in their line-up but ASAP XV prioritises the younger talents like Sarah Geronimo. And when it comes to production numbers, the performances in ASAP are ground breaking and they never ran out of new gimmicks. And this new program "Party Pilipinas", how will it differ from SOP Fully Charged? Are we gonna see new level of performance and intensity from the hosts? I hope it does and good luck to this new show.
