WWE Bragging Rights was held earlier today at the Target Center in Minnesota, and the members of the WWE Universe was tuned in to see it live. Here are my personal overview of some of the matches that took place earlier on WWE Bragging Rights.
Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett for the WWE Championship
WWE Champion Randy Orton defended his WWE Championship against the Nexus leader Wade Barrett. Wade had John Cena in his corner to make sure he wins the match. Ever since John Cena became a part of Nexus after he was defeated by Barrett at Hell in the Cell, Cena has been humiliated and embarrassed by the Nexus leader, Cena was forced to take orders from Barrett as ordered by the anonymous Raw General Manager or else he will be fired. Before the match between Orton and Barrett began, the later set the record straight to John Cena that if doesn't wins the match he will fire John Cena. Actually, it seemed that the attention of the members of the WWE Universe wasn't focused on the match between Orton and Barrett, all eyes are on John Cena waiting for his next move, whether he's gonna help Barrett win the WWE Title by screwing Orton or has he had enough of the humiliation and will just kick Wade Barrett's teeth down his throat regardless that he's gonna get fired if he does that. The match had a very unexpected twist, the Nexus came to the ring after the referee was accidentally knocked down, the Nexus ganged up against Orton but John Cena took them all out, Wade Barrett didn't liked that and confronted Cena, but John told Barrett that he did that because Barrett could get disqualified and loose the match, Barrett seemed to be convinced by that, but the resilient John Cena delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Wade Barrett, the referee saw that and disqualifies Orton. Barrett won by DQ but Orton retains the title. Everyone thought that Cena could get fired but remember, Barrett's order to Cena is help him "win the match" he never mentioned about winning the WWE Title, Barrett won the match by disqualification and Cena did his mission.
Undertaker vs. Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship in a "Buried Alive Match"
This match is 14 years in the making, this could be the final chapter of the "Brothers of Destruction" and would bury the issue between Undertaker and Kane. The stipulation of this match is to incapacitate your opponent, put him on a grave 6 feet under and and bury him with dirt. Actually this match was lazy, it started quickly as the Undertaker attacked Kane even before he makes it to the ring, but it also ended to soon. Most of the part of the match took place outside the ring, the Undertaker punished his brother Kane unloading punches, the Undertaker then loaded the ring with steel chairs but those chairs was used against him by Kane hitting the Undertaker twice in the spine, Kane delivered two choke slams on the Undertaker and carried him to the burial site. The undertaker seemed to have gained momentum and Kane on a Triangle Choke, Kane passed out, the Undertaker sets to bury Kane but The Phenom spotted Paul Bearer trying to sneak out, just when the Undertaker was about to choke slam Paul Bearer through the gave, the Nexus came and attacked the Undertaker, then Kane was revived and hit the Undertaker with the steel earn right to the head, then Kane and the Nexus put the Undertaker to the grave and Kane used a giant bulldozer to cover the Undertaker with tons of dirt. The Undertaker was buried six feet under the ground but is this over for the Phenom? Has Kane proven that he is the dominant brother? And if ever the Undertaker comes back, will he go to Raw and do some measure of revenge against the Nexus? Will the Undertaker be the one to dismantle Nexus just like what he did to the Anti-Americans and La Familia? Nobody knows, but what I know is that this match is so lazy, I did not see so much action from the Undertaker, it was all mugging, this should be all about burying rivalries but it was won by a screw job. And it's should be for the World Heavyweight Championship but it seemed that it was all about getting revenge and the Title is just a bonus, the WWE writers just disgraced the World Heavyweight Championship which the Undertaker considers as his holy grail.
Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown for Brand Supremacy
This is what WWE Bragging Rights was all about, Team Raw vs Team Smackdown faces each other in a seven-on-seven elimination match, the winning team will receive the coveted Bragging Rights trophy and will be hailed as WWE's supreme brand. Team Raw consists of team Captain The Miz, CM Punk, Sheamus, Ezekiel Jackson, John Morrison, Santino Marella and R-Truth while the Team Smackdown consists of team captain Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Alberto del Rio, Jack Swagger, Tyler Reks, Kofi Kingston, and the Rated R Superstar Edge. Team Raw seemed to have momentum after it's team captain Big Show got counted out and Mysterio went back to the locker room for a moment after his own team mate Alberto del Rio attacked him, the Smackdown team fell one-by-one like flies until Edge was the only one left, but Rey Mysterio cameback. Edge and Mysterio acted as a cohesive unit and the final Sphere from Edge to The Miz sealed the deal, Team Blue won the Bragging Rights trophy for the second consecutive year. Actually Smackdown always wins against Raw eversince the battle for brand supremacy started, it's like a consolation for Smackdown it's not WWE's banner show.
