Aljur Abrenica Portrays the Role "Machete"

The Kapuso Network has just picked Aljur Abrenica to portray the role "Machete". "Machete" is a part of GMA's opening salvo for 2011 which is set to be seen on GMA Telebabad.

"Machete" is the tale of a wooden statue of an Igorot warrior who comes to life. The role was originally portrayed by Cesar Montano in 1990 with Rita Avila as his leading lady and in 1994, Gardo Versoza reprised the role oposite Rosanna Roces. Both versions were produced by by Seiko films but that version starring Gardo Versoza and Rosanna Roces was the more erotic version, it inroduced Gardo Versoza and Rosanna Roces as sex symbols and fave the way for other bold movies stars and it launched the era of bold films in the mid 90s. Actually this era in Philippine movies was the one that I hate a lot because erotic films was shown on theaters one after another, even the mainstream film outfits had to produce their own erotic films just to gain income because during this times only films with erotic content rakes the box office almost, and the quality of movies had just deteriorated.

But that's not the point here, I just want to share my piece, now going back to Aljur, I think that this is the so far the biggest break that's been given to him by the Kapuso Network, Dingdong Dantes was considered for the role "Machete" but he was still so fortunate to bag the role, and the original "Machete" Cesar Montano gave Aljur the blessing to do the role. Cesar Montano once worked with Aljur in the fantaserye "Ilumina". This could be Aljur's moment to prove that he is the next most sought after leading man. And who would be Aljur's leading lady in "Machete", are we gonna see them do some steamy scenes?
