Is Bubble Gang Ending Soon?

How true is this news that Bubble Gang, the longest running gag show in the Philippines is about to end soon. Bubble Gang started airing on GMA-7 way back in 1995 and it's approaching it's 16th year. Bubble Gang is one of the original shows which was conceptualized by GMA Network when it made it's reformat back in the mid-90s, the Kapuso Network once quoted Bubble Gang as a name synonymous with GMA-7 because it was one of the shows that held GMA to what it is today.

Bubble Gang's founding fathers were Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid while the other casts have changed all throughout it's existance. Bubble Gang became famous with their segments like Myusik Tagalog Bersyon (MTB), Music English Version (MEV) which features Michael V's translated lyrics of popular song. Those segments were so popular that they released a compilation album of the songs that they tweaked, the album went platinum and one of the original song in that album which was composed by Bitoy titled "Sinaktan Mo Ang Puso Ko" became a monster hit, won an Awit Award Song of the Year and even had a movie spin off.

The other classic segment popularized by Bubble Gang was "Ang Dating Doon" which was a spoof of the religious group "Ang Dating Daan". This particular segment gave fame to the comedian Isko Salvador which was popularly known as Brod. Pete in "Ang Dating Doon". Everytime this segment starts, the trio of Brod. Pete, Bro. Willie and Bro. Jocel always sings the opening theme of Voltez V which later fave the way for that classic anime to be brought back to air by GMA-7 and started the "We Are Anime" era in the Kapuso Network. "Ang Dating Doon" also popularized the catch phrase "Alien!"

Another very popular and classic segment from Bubble Gang was "Spoiled Brat" which featured the wacky duo of Yaya and Angelina portrayed by Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid respectively. It became a household name and also had a movie spin off which became a box-office hit.

Those were just some of the memorable moments I have from Bubble Gang. The show really got through the heart of many Filipinos and has became a pop culture. But now I might be looking at the last of those moments of fun as the show is now impending to wrap up. But director Uro Dela Cruz has already denied the rumors in an interview with PEP which could show some signs of light for the future of Bubble Gang.

The Kapuso Network better reconsider before the think of axing Bubble Gang, yes it's ratings have not been performing well for the past couple of years, but I think changing it's time slot can be a good remedy. I remember during the 90s, Bubble Gang used to air every 8 or 9 during Friday nights, but now because of the hectic time slot caused by GMA-7's primetime dramas, Bubble Gang airs as late as 11pm, most people during this time already feels sleepy and may not even bother watching, I refer to this time slot as "Aswang" because it's almost late.

Here is a loyal fan of Bubble Gang appealing to GMA-7, please don't axe the longest running gag show!
