But to be quite frank, the fans got a point, Barbie's make-up is too much. Her role in "Nita Negrita" was supposed to be a girl with African decent but instead, the make-up artist of GMA-7 turned her into a "taong anino" or "engkanto" which are seen on Pinoy horror films. I have seen Africans and African-Americans in person but not as black as Barbie in "Nita Negrita", they should have moderated it a bit. And during the pilot episode of "Nita Negrita", the father of Nita/Barbie had an appearance but he wasn't as black as Barbie.
And to all the fans of Barbie Forteza who worries that Barbie's make-up is causing Nita Negrita's ratings to drop, I have to disagree with that. Every soap opera could suffer a drop in the ratings when the story is already down the middle. Consistency in the story should be the concern here, the creative crew, writers and directors shoul double their effort to keep the story more interesting to keep the viewers. We couldn't blame it to the make-up because eversince "Nita Negrita" started, it was a consistent top rater despite Barbie Forteza's make-up.
