Along with "It's Showtime", three programs from GMA-7 also made their debut last Monday, "Broken Vow", "Biritera" and "Alice Bungisngis and Her Wonder Walis" but I would like to focus on "It's Showtime". It was published in other blogs that "It's Showtime" became a trending topic on Twitter last Monday during it's debut when twitter fanatics prompted the #ItsShowtime on their tweets.
Good for the show, it's trending on social networking sites so it means that the show is being talked about. But If being a trending topic on Twitter is the only thing that they can brag, then it's not good enough. Number one, advertisers and sponsors does not care whether a show is a #1 trending topic on Twitter or any other social networking sites. Advertisers still rely on TV ratings to help them decide whether they want to sponsor the show. Number two, being a #1 trending topic on Twitter does not mean that every single Filipino is talking about the show, it's just because that the show got some loyal fans who are so industrious in tweeting. Try to visualize, a ratio of 1 loyal fan:1000 tweets, not a bad number when your show got 100 loyal fans..
