My Thoughts About X Factor Philippines

X Factor Philippines Poster
The X Factor Philippines has started airing and I have here my thoughts about ABS-CBN's version of Simon Cowell's hit reality talent search from U.K. I know for a fact that Simon Cowell have a standard requirements in producing his X Factor, that's why when GMA-7 made a bid to acquire a franchise of X Factor, they were declined because the Kapuso Network doesn't meet Simon's requirements.

But since ABS-CBN acquired the rights to produce a Philippine version of X Factor, we expect that the network met the standard's of X Factor's producer and mentor judge Simon Cowell. But that high expectation went the other way around when the panel of judges and the host was announced, and after seeing the pilot of X Factor Philippines, I have made a realization that the show is just overrated and doesn't even equals the quality of the original.

Oh yes, I'm being so mean with my reviews and to make it worst, here are my thoughts on why X Factor Philippines is overrated and doesn't meet the standard of the original version:

1.Unfit Panel of Judges. One of the unique format of X Factor are the panel of judges, because the four people seating on the panel will not just judge the performance of the contestants but they will also act as a mentor who will guide the contestants in choosing their songs and what kind of artist they are. In U.K. and in U.S., the panel consists of a record producer and a pop star. But in X Factor Philippines, the panel of judges   has two 80s hit makers Gary V. and Martin Nievera, Asia's Queen of Songs Pilita Corales and Charice Pempenco. I don't think that this line up have what it takes to mentor and artist Gary V. and Martin Nievera were popular in the 80s but that's it, they may have produced a lot of hits but they were not able to go with the flow and reinvent themselves as an artist. The last time I heard about this two was when they were in a flop concert, Gary V. was one of the Lady Gaga critic but I wonder why hasn't he walked out of ASAP where Lady Gaga songs are being performed on a regular basis and Martin Nievera was always the arrogant guy who has been living in the Philippines for such a long time but doesn't know Tagalog and he was giving justice in butchering the "Lupang Hinirang". On the other half of the panel, we have Pilita Corales who has the title Asia's Queen of Songs but what are the titles of her songs and how many songs did she recorded. And Charice Pempenco who many considers as a Pinay singing sensation in the U.S. but only had one hit.

2.Unfit host. X Factor Philippines is hosted by the Mega Daughter KC Conception, she is good at hosting and she definitely got the X Factor, but she is just too big for the show and I don't think that she has that appeal to the masses since she is a socialite. I think that her hosting style would ruin the show just like her fellow socialite Raymond Gutierrez did with Pinoy Idol. And I thought that KC has the tendency to outshine the contestants which should not happen because X Factor is not about the host of the judges but it should be about the contestants

3.The judges doesn't know what they are looking for. X Factor is not a singing competition, it's about charisma, appeal and attitude, but the judges of X Factor Philippines seems to be giving more emphasis about the singing rather than appeal. Those first batch that the judges put through got the voice but they looks so boring. But those were just the first batch, we'll have to wait for the finals to see whether those who have it will go through.

4.The production. When you watch the X Factor U.K. or U.S. you get to feel the intensity in the stage, the audition doesn't seem like an audition but it's like  watching the finale already, but in X Factor Philippines, it's like watching Will Time Big Time or Talentadong Pinoy.

So there you have it, my early reviews about X Factor Philippines, of course the show has just started and it's too early to judge, but as the show goes on, we'll have to watch out for developments and I will be watching. I'm sure a lot of people out the also has their random thoughts about X Factor Philippines feel free to leave your comments.

  2. you were right too early to judge..so keep your negative comments or so called opinion to yourself...it is obvious that you dont know much about the judges achievements... and may i ask this.had gma acquired the franchise of x factor phils...who do you think the panel of judges should be...regine jaya janno and ogie..oh please...they are all equally good but its not about the judges at all..it´s about the leadership of the network..and abs cbn has it all... simon cowell wouldnt grant a franchise to a second rate network station..he knows that more than you think you do...

  4. I was excited at first, then I got bored just recently. I don't like the way the judges made their comments (quite empty, boring, and not competitive at all); the productions are not even impressive; I can only see two to three contestants who can best compete globally. I don't know who're behind this show... so disappointing! The audience deserves something big and new and amazing! Honestly, the show is getting boring... this is not happening for UK and US, the intensity is consistent every time the same show is aired. I hope they'll do something about it!
