Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga, Makapiling Kang Muli, and Aso ni San Roque

"Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga", "Makapiling Kang Muli", and "Aso ni San Roque" are my features for this week. This are the Kapuso shows that caught my attention this past week and here are my thoughts:

Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga - GMA-7 revives one of it's most successful soap opera which was originally top-billed by Dingdong Dantes and Tanya Garcia, today Kapuso's two fresh faces Mikael Daez and Andrea Torres brings life to the colorful love story of Carlos Miguel and Cecilia.

I was just wandering about the theme song which  is used in the new version of "Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga". The song that they were using is titled "Ikaw Na Sana" which was used in another GMA-7 soap opera "Ikaw Na Sana" which was top-billed by one of Philippine Showbiz's most successful love team Bobby Andrews and Angelu De Leon. The theme song that was used in the first version of Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga was the song of the same title which was composed and sung by Basil Valdez. Did the Kapuso Network intended it to give new flavor to the soap or were they just having a slight amnesia?

Makapiling Kang Muli - among the three primetime soaps of GMA-7, "Makapiling Kang Muli" is the only one which was not extended, probably because it is the most lackluster. It could be the writers or Richard Gutierrez's deteriorating charm that caused it's slump. I'm a bit disappointed about the way the Philip Salvador's character ended, he just simply died inside the jail. The writers of "Makapiling Kang Muli" could have put more depth to Philip Salvador's character as Amadeo since he was the man who helped Martin (Richard Gutierrez) and Lailani (Carla Abellana) to get their redemption, but he ended up as a guy who was caught up in a middle of a war but wasn't fortunate to get out alive.

I also don't like the way things turned out for Martin and Lailani's seek for justice, their anger to the people who brought them pain was overwhelming right from the start and they are ready to risk their lives to get redemption but they all ended up calling the cops. Maybe the writers realized that they don't have much time left to come up with a good conclusion so they just decided to kill some characters and let the authority prevail.

Aso Ni San Roque - Kapuso Network's upcoming show which is set to replace "Makapiling Kang Muli". The teaser is currently playing and by just watching it, we could easily predict the story. The little girl is blind but a dog will serve as her guardian and as an eye to help her see. How is it different from "Bantatay"?
