He Man: The Eternity War #1
Publisher: DC Comics
Script: Dan Abnett
Art: Pop Mhan
Letters: Deron Bennett
He Man: The Eternity War is a new series from DC Comics. The story features the rise of evil Hordak who attempts to invade castle Grayskull and all of Eternia. This leaves Grayskull's new head sorcerer Tee-la to sum-on Eternia's mightiest warriors He-Man and She-Ra. Together they will do everything on their power to stop Hordak and his Horde from wreaking havok to the kingdom of Eternia.
I used to be a fan of the cartoon series He-Man and Masters of the Universe and She-Ra Princess of Power. Being a young boy, I used to wonder whether He-Man and She-Ra have a connection because they have the same swords and they transform in a similar way. Till I found out from one episode that they are twins, but somehow I kinda think that they would look better as couples.
Now going back to He-Man: The Eternity War, I think the story promises to be action packed and mystifying. This first issue already gives a first look on what's gonna happened when the forces of He-Man and the evil Hordak finally collides. It also gave a glimpse about the history of Grayskull, it's former King, and it's secret power.
Dan Abnett does a great job in adding a depth on the story of He-Man, She-Ra and the rest of the characters rather than the usual cartoon series we've seen from the past. I see overwhelming emotions in the characters and thrill in each panel which not normally seen in the cartoon series where the heroes usually finish off the enemies quickly and ends up with a happily ever after.
I also love the new look that Pop Mhan gave yo the characters, everyone's refreshed, more serious and muscular, seems they're all ready for one hell of a fight. I dunno about everyone else, but He-Man: The Eternity War have awaken and re-ignited my fascination for the iconic figure He-Man, I feel like I'm a kid again waiting for the next adventures of my favorite superhero, only this time It's not on free TV but I'm gonna pay for it's printed version, but it's absolutely worth it.
