New Shows on GMA

GMA 7's Telebabad shows Ako Si Kim Sam Soon is ending this month, in fact it's on it's final two weeks of airing, and Dyesebel is ending sometime in November, but GMA will introduce a band of brand new shows.

Lalola starring Rhian Ramos and JC De Vera has started taping for it's episode and it will replace Ako Si Kim Sam Soon. Heart Evangelista will be doing Luna Mystica together with Mark Anthony Fernandez. Iza Calzado and Sunshine Dizon returns on primetime TV in the remake of the Koreanovela All About Eve. Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes will take a three months break will do the film One True Love with Iza Calzado, they will return on TV via a Carlo J. Caparas masterpiece Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang. While GMA's Primetime King Richard Gutirrez will have to choose between two projects, Full House or Zorro. But I think he will choose Zorro, because he is known for doing actions series on TV.

Plus Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5 hosted by Janno Gibbs will return for it's second season to replace Celebrity Duets. Richard Gomez will host Family Fued which will replace Gobingo. And Robin Padilla will return with his newest Soap Totoy Bato.

GMA 7 has a nice line of new shows, surely this will fuel up the netowk war even more.

GMA Denies About Text Messages Regarding I.T.A.L.Y.'s First Day Gross!

GMA Network denies that they were the source of a text message circulating around saying that GMA Films' I.T.A.L.Y grossed P17 Million on it's first day.

According to rumors, the text message came from the GMA Films President Anette Gozon herself which was denied by GMA's camp.

And earlier today on Unang Hirit's segment "Showbiz Headlines", the lead star Jolina Magdangal and also a UH host said that the movie did well on the first day but did not grossed that huge amount of money, and Lhar Santiago added that I.T.A.L.Y didn't that big on the box office, but it's gross went up on the following day because of the word of mouth coming from the people who watched it encourage others to watch it as well.

The Tribe Has Spoken

The first week airing of Survivor Philippines was exciting and truly remarkable. And just this last Friday Survivor Philippines conducted it's first ever Tribal Council.

The 18 Castaways had to swim to the Koh Tarutao Island and when they reached the shore, they were divided into two tribes, "Jarakay"(Thai word for Crocodile) composed by all the guys and "Naak"(Thai word for snake) which was composed by the girls. In day 1, Survivor Philippines conducted it's first reward challenge, and the winning tribe will recieve materials they can use to build shelters. As expected the Jarakay which is composed by the tough guys won. And at night, the girls of Naak Tribe had to sleep with an empty stomach and without a shelter. But it was not also an easy on for the boys of Naak. The guys argued a lot because of lack of food and argued even more about the leadership of the tribe. Marlon, the waiter talked trash asumming he is the leader and even tried to form an alliance to be sure about his future in the contest.

On Day 3, the first immunity challenge was held, the winner will hold the Immunity Idol and whosever tribe holds it will be safe from the Tribal Council which is the final destination for one castaways because he/she will be voted out by his tribe. But just before the challenge started, a twist happened and some castaways were move from Jarakay to Naak and from Naak to Jarakay. Jarakay won the challenge and Naak went to the Tribal council. But before that Naak members seemed to be having an understanding who will they vote of f. For once I tought it was JC "The Basketball Heartrob" they are planning to vote off, the the result did not came out as I expected.

It was Chevy "The former GRO" who was voted off and it was a unanimous decisions by her Tribe, in fact she was the only one who voted for another person which was Kaye who she called "malandi" because of having some heart to heart talk with Rob , but everything she said  fired back to her.

Today September 21 on Showbiz Central Chevy will have her first interview, and she will reveal everything that happened to her as a castaway, and she will also reveal the castaways that she messed up with.

Marian And Richard on TV?

After a successful team up in the movie "My Bestfriend's Girlfriend", many fans are hoping to see Marian Rivera "The Queen of Primetime" and Richard Gutierrez "The King of Primetime" work together on TV.

Since there were rumors that GMA will do a Pinoy edition of Rosalinda, and Marian Rivera for sure will do the title role, fans wants Richard Gutierrez to be Fernando Jose. There were even photos in the internet with showing Richard and Marian as Rosalinda and Fernando Jose. What a team up would it be if GMA approves this team up?

But of cource th solid Dingdong and Marian fans would not allow it. And besides Richard  is known for doing action TV series, and he once said that he would only do dramatic roles on movies so that fans would not bored seing him doing the same roles over and over again. And Richard still got the "Captain Barbell meets Darna" waiting for him. So for now it's still just a dream team up. But who knows?

Survivor Philippines: All Fired up!

Survivor Philippines is all fired up as it starts airing tomorrow September 15 on GMA Telebabad.

Survivor Philippines is based from the hit U.S. Reality show "Survivor" that became the inspiration for other reality show in the world, now it's here to conquer Philippines. 18 Castaways will battle it out for 3 Million Pesos. These 18 were the lucky ones who were chosen among all others who auditioned.

The 18 Castaways will spend 39 days in an Island called Koh Tarutao in Thailand. They have to undergo challenges that will test their mantal and physical strenght, and each week one castaway will be voted of by thei fellow castaway until one is left standing. And that one will take home the 3 Million Pesos and will be called the First Pinoy Sole Survivor.

Survivor Philippines is Hosted by Paolo Bediones and airs starting September 15 on GMA Telebabad

Standing Ovation For Britney Spears

Britney Spears is back! That was the story of the recently held MTV Video Music Award 2008.

Unlike last years VMA where Britney was criticized and insulted by viewers because of a lousy performance which was supposed to be her comeback, it was a different story this year. Britney Spears got a well deserved standing ovation from the fans for winning 3 Moonman for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the year for her very successful video "Piece Of Me". And not only that, right from the start of the show it was all about Britney, because she kicked off VMA 2008 with a skit together with Super Bad star Jonas Hill.

Britney Spears just made all her acceptance speech short. And all night it was Birtney all over VMA. Bitney was successful this time and this is the comeback her fans including me is waiting for.

Melanie Marquez Ends Her Celebrity Duets Stint

The Celebrity Duets Season 2's Elimination has started yesterday September 6, 2008, Saturday. The elimination process is based mainly on audience text votes, and it's first casualty, is Miss International 1979 Ms. Melanie Marquez.

The Elimination Process took place just right from the beginning of the show, Host Ogie Alcasid called each contestant randomly and separated them into two groups, then sends the other group into safety, those who remained where the bottom group, and then announced that the name he will mention is the one who will say goodbye, and it was Ms. Melanie Marquez. The former Beauty queen who was known for her Quotable Quotes with wrong English Grammar performed her last song "Vougue" with The Queen of Soul Jaya.

After the elimination, The Celebrity Duets Season 2 now only has seven contenders: Bayani Fernando, Cory Quirino, Phil Younghusband, Joey Marquez, chef JL Cang, JC Buendia, and Carlene Aguilar.

Celebrity Duet Season 2 is seen every Saturday after Pinoy Records on GMA 7and Hosted by Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez.

For The First Time

For The First Time is currently shown in theaters nationwide and worldwide and it is a certified box office hit.

For The First Time is truly the most talked about movie for the year for many reasons, one of those is the fact that For The First Time a Kapuso and a Kapamilya teamed up together in a movie. And I think that the rumored romance between it's lead stars Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion contributed a lot for the film's success. And both stars showed good chemistry on screen and in real life.

It was also a most talked about moviebecause of the intrigues regarding the gapforming between GMA 7 and Annabelle Rama, Richard's Mother and Manager. This is due to the alleged attempt of GMA to compete against the movie's premiere night by conducting Marian Rivera and Dindong Dantes' Birthday concert on the same playdate of the movie. According to critics, GMA did that on purpose to sabotage the films grand premiere.

But quite frankly there is nothing to argue with, since Marian and Dingdong's Birthday concert was held for one night only, while For The First Time got a lot of playdates and surely it will last for a couple of weeks in the theaters, so what's wrong with that? We'll that's Pinoy Showbiz, always filled with intrigues.
