Manny Pacquiao Should Focus on His Match and Not With Politics

Earlier this morning, I heard a taped interview of Manny Pacquiao in the radio. The topic was of course his upcoming bout with Shane "Sugar" Mosley. At one point during that interview, Manny Pacquiao said that "My biggest fight is ending the poverty in my country", that sounds nice but that is something I don't like about Manny.

With this kind of statement, Manny is showing more politics rather than a world class athlete. The fight against poverty is an irrelevant topic, he should be talking about his preparations and his thoughts about his upcoming bout, but he decided to talk about politics.

Yes, Manny Pacquiao is a politician being the representative of Sarangani, but that is not the concern right now, it's all about boxing, it's all about who is the best fighter in the world.

It's nice to hear a great athlete who is showing eagerness to help his country, but I think fighting poverty is the responsibility of every countrymen and the process of doing it takes a long time. Fighting poverty isn't a boxing match that can end by 12 rounds or less.

I think it's about time for Manny Pacquiao to decide what he really wants to do, if he wants to serve the people and fight poverty, then just stick to politics and hang his boxing gloves, after all he is now a rich man and he has accomplish a lot and I'm sure that he has earned his spot at the Boxing Hall of Fame. He can also go full time in acting or recording, but if he still feels like knocking down people and earning more money, he can continue his illustrious boxing career.

Manny Pacquaio is a very rich man, he shouldn't carry on his shoulder all the responsibilities in the fight against poverty, because at the end of the day it's still pretty obvious that the only reason why he is fighting inside the ring is because he wants to earn money and that boxing is his profession. I'm a fan of Manny Pacquiao as an athlete and not as a politician, so I want to wish him luck in his fight.
