The Yahoo! Philippines OMG! Awards 2012 Winners and the Reasons Why I am Not Buying it

The Yahoo! Philippines OMG! Awards 2012 winners were finally revealed after more than 4 Million votes were cast in a period of four weeks. I have reviewed the list of winners and majority of them were from the Kapamilya Network. You can call this a bias and partial opinion but I do not agree with the result and I am not buying it!

So here is the list of some of the Yahoo! Philippines OMG! Awards 2012 winners and the reason why I am not buying it:

Celebrity of the Year-Anne Curtis: How can Anne be Celebrity of the Year? I haven't heard much of her aside from her major first major concert where she sang awfully the entire night. Maybe her thousands or maybe millions of Twitter follower did the trick.

Major Impact-Vilma Santos: What major impact has the Star for All Season have done in this year so far? In her own constituents maybe, but I think that there is no other major impact in Philippine Showbiz this year than the condition of our Comedy King Dolphy. I feel bad for him because not only that the powers that be wouldn't allow him to receive the National Artist Award but also, the Pinoy Netizens doesn't consider his condition as a major impact in showbiz.

Actress of the Year-Angel Locsin: Aside from one movie, she stars in a comedy sitcom. While his competitor in the same category Marian Rivera did 2 primetime soaps already. The last one she did maybe a flop but I still think she deserves the award more than Angel. Again, the thousands ot Angel Locsin's Twitter followers did the trick.

Male Singer of the Year-Christian Bautista: Among all the winners, this is the most unconvincing and unbelievable. How come this guy won Male Singer of the Year? He is no longer relevant and his career is slowly fading. Either one of Elmo Magalona and Gloc-9 should have won, they are both more current and relevant singers compared to Christian.

Female Singer of the Year-Sarah Geronimo: I have nothing against Sarah, she is fantastic and her voice is indeed amazing, but I think that Julie Anne San Jose is much hotter and relevant than Sarah G. during this days.

Breakthrough Actor of the Year-Xiam Lim: When we say breakthrough, it's for new comers, Xiam Lim has been around for quite sometime. Alden Richards should have won, because he just made his debut in primtime TV as a leading man.

Breakthrough Actress of the Year-Kim Chiu: Kim Chiu has been in showbiz for so many years already. If the Yahoo! Philippines OMG! Awards was established back during the year when she won the PBB Teen Edition, maybe it's a credible result. But I do not blame the fans who voted for her, because in this category, the other nominees are Rhian Ramos, Lovi Poe, Maja Salvador and Erich Gonzales, it seems that there is no choice, which one of this actresses actually made a breakthrough? All of them were around for so quite sometime but non of them have actually made a breakthrough performance that would put them on top.

Most Promising Actor of the year-Enrique Gil: Who is he?

Comedian of the Year-Vice Ganda: Vice Ganda is a good comedian but I thought that Jose and Wally's tandem is currently the wackiest. And besides, Eat Bulaga which fave the way for Jose and Wally's duo is constantly sweeping It's Showtime which features Vice Ganda.

Best Female Newcomer-Solenn Heusaff: She made her debut last year, and I'm totally annoyed of the press releases given to her GMA-7 particularly in her singing, how can many still consider her a newcomer?

Fan Club of the Year-KimXi: Where did all the JulieElmo fans go? What happened to their worldwide trending? How come the KimXi beat the JulieElmo fans club in online voting? Everytime I peak at the JulieElmo Facebook Fan page I always see their wall post bragging that JulieElmo is Trending worldwide but why can't they fans vote for them in Yahoo! Philippines?

IT Couple of the Year-Angel Locsin and Phil Younghusband: Really? I don't care!

Love Team of the Year-Kim Chiu and Xiam Lim: Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona should have won. That's the bottom line.

So, there you have it. The reasons why I am not convinced about the result. Note that I did not post all the winners in this article, I only posted the winners which in my point is unconvincing. But I do not say that the results were tweak because the Pinoy Netizens casted their votes themselves, but my point is the celebrity with the largest social network fan base have the best chance of winning an event like this. I just have to accept the fact that the Kapamilya stars have more follower in Facebook and Twitter to vote for them.

And to the Kapuso fans who are bitter, do not worry. It's just from Yahoo! Philippines. May gumagamit pa pala nun ngayon? Google is more widely used and popular this days. Yung account ko sa Yahoo! sasabog na sa dami ng email dahil hindi ko ginagamit.
