Julie Anne San Jose's Album Debuts No.1 on iTunes Philippines And My Message to Critics

JAPS Album Cover
Julie Anne San Jose's self-titled first album debuts no.1 on iTunes Philippines. The remarkable thing is that it went no.1 just an hour after it was released. The grand launch of Julie Anne San Jose's album will have a grand launch on Party Pilipinas.

Julie Anne's 10 track album contains both original and revivals including the hit carrier single "I'll Be There" which was used as the soundtrack of GMA-7's Korean Drama "Lie to Me" which has been receiving massive air plays on radio stations and ABS-CBN's music channel MYX.

Of course there are some "Bitter Ocampo(s)" out there who belong to the other side seemingly not happy with Julie Anne San Jose's latest breakthrough. As I was browsing the web community to find updates, I've read some comments bashing Julie Anne saying that "only 30 people bought her album on iTunes", "Julie Anne's album went no.1 on the iTunes in her barangay" and a lot more. Some says that we have to wait and see how her album will perform as a physical CD.

I don't know what this guys are trying to point out but all I can say is that this people are bitter because Julie Anne San Jose a Kapuso is recently dominating the OPM charts. Before Julie Anne, it was Kapamilya recording stars who are making waves in the hit charts. But to be quite prank, we are already in the digital age, the era of CDs is almost nearing it's demise. Even in the U.S. record labels are now focusing on digital albums that can be downloaded on iPods and smart phones rather than selling a physical CD which can be played on bulky component systems.

Are there any dumb people during this days who would carry a CD player else where to listen to their favorite records? When Julie Anne San Jose's "Super Bass" video became viral on YouTube, this was also the same scenario, critics says that a hundred people repeatedly clicked her video to reach a million views. They also said that Julie's fans are just Jejemons, but topping the iTunes charts is a different level, people are gonna pay to have you're album unlike a YouTube video which can be viewed for free, and I don't think that those so called Jejemons can afford to buy a digital record from iTunes.

I've been an advocate of Julie Anne San Jose since day 1 when she was just a little girl on "Popstar Kids" and no doubt that she has the talent and the X Factor, compared to other singers from the Kapamilya Network, Julie Anne San Jose is the most unique. She is the only singer from this generation who doesn't act like a diva and doesn't imitate Mariah, Whitney or our very own Regine Velasquez. The Kapamilya's bet Angeline Quinto? Please! The last time I've heard about her was when she murdered Jennifer Holliday's song just to be a part of the Jessica Sanchez fever.

And a final word to Julie Ann San Jose's critics out there, today is the age of digital and whether we like it or not, we have to embrace this progress. Forget about hearing about your favorite recording stars topping the sales of a CD stores, those days are almost gone. iTunes Philippines is the new hope for OPM, it was a brilliant strategy for GMA Records to release Julie Anne's album for digital downloads rather than on record bars. No one knows how will the CDs perform on the actual release, but at least GMA Records drew the first blood, the CDs sales may go flop but they can now make money on digital downloads. GMA Records came up with a nice strategy and they are winning so far.

  1. Jejemons don't have credit cards as well (one thing needed to buy from iTunes). Hehe. The haters are grasping on straws. I bought the album online and will buy the CD when it comes out :D Nice write up BTW.

  3. Jejemon? Oh please. After a few days, Julie Anne San Jose will be talked about by everyone. I bet these people will only download Julie's songs for free online or ask someone to send it to their phones via bluetooth because they wouldn't want Julie's album to have high sales. Who's the Jejemon, now? Lol.

  6. "prank" is misused. it should have been "frank" based on the context. the net has been a haven for haters and bitter people. judge a person based on talent, potential, achievement and charisma. unfortunately for the haters, julie ann got them all. set aside prejudice people. I'm a kapuso but appreciate kapamilya too. if it's good it's good. learn to appreciate impartially.

  8. I have always been a Kapuso but since moving here in Canada, we didn't have a choice but watch TFC until this year. One of the few new faces I've noticed is Julie Anne San Jose and of all these new budding singers, she really has a voice, own style, she is confident, she's good. In fact, when I listen to her singing live compared to Angeline Quinto, she is much better. No offense meant but she has a stronger voice and she controls it well. Angeline still has to learn to control her voice especially when she is hitting the low notes.

  9. Nice write-up. Never been an avid fan of a local singer, until i saw Julie Anne perform in Party Pilipinas. Hope the album goes platinum! I know she'll make it BIG.

  10. This is a great article, I'm also a JAPs fan and I can't say enough how I pity those who waste their time writing up comments and phrases on how they hate Julie Anne. Oh please, Julie Anne's like the most favorite pop singer right now. Even Sarah G couldn't compete with her. And I know Sarah G.'s great. But she's already changed and as I watch her sing, I can't dismiss the thought of comparing how humble and down-to-earth Julie Anne is. And to top that, she's still 18. There's so much more that she can do and all those haters of her can just spend all their time hating her without gaining anything. ANYTHING

  11. Don't talk about the haters of Julie Anne San Jose again, because they don't even deserve to be an issue in our lives. And if we will hate those haters, aren't we haters too?
Let's just enjoy every songs of Julie Anne San Jose.
