The Aldub fever continues to sweep the country by a storm. Millions of televiewers gets glued to their television sets to watch Eat Bulaga's 'Kalyeserye' starring Alden Richards and Yaya Dub(Maine Mendoza) or simply Aldub. And the said portion of the country's longest running noontime show is also winning the ratings.
Reports said that the August 5 episode of Eat Bulaga where Alden and Yaya Dub was expected to meet each other during the Bulaga Pa More segment registered EB's highest rating for this year which is said to be triple the ratings of it's rival noontime show. Aldub is also sweeping the social media as a consistent top trending topic. All of these are happening very timely for EB's 36th anniversary.
The Aldub phenomenon is also a turning point for Alden Richard's career, the Kapuso Network has been building him up for several years, sculping him to be the next big leading man, a hunk, a drama king and almost anything they can throw but everything ended up an epic failure. Even his telebabad series with Marian Rivera didn't do. And when Alden appeared in EB, I wandered why? What will they do with him?
Until suddenly everything changed for this guy and it looks like Eat Bulaga found the missing piece to this guy's career, the same time tested formula that they used to build stars for three decades. They were able bring Alden closer to the masses which was something the Kapuso Network has failed to do. Now Alden finally experienced how it feels to be famous.
Right now the Aldub loveteam has a huge gang of followers and they are appealing to have the two in a movie or a soap opera, particularly a local remake of the korean drama 'My Love from the star'.
I am an Aldub fan, but I am totally against any movie or tv project for the two other than the 'kalyeserye'. One reason is that Yaya Dub is known as the dubsmash queen, she doesn't talk and use her real voice, give her a dialogue and her character is through just like momoy palaboy. It's okay if it's a movie where she will portray the role of a mute, she doesn't have to speak and that's okay.
Second reason, 'My love from th star'? Are you guys serious? Who told you that we need a remake of that drama? Can't we come up with our own and we have to copy from the koreans?
It will be okay if they do a twist, if Yaya Dub was the alien and she couldn't speak like earthlings so she just borrow voices, that will be cool and wouldn't spoil her character.
And to wrap up everything, I'm sure there are a lot of EB critiques out there who says Aldub won't last forever and it's phenomenon will fade 'sa tamang panahon'. Well that's true, nothing last forever but there is one thing that's sure, Eat Bulaga knows that, they knew it from Aiza Seguerra, to the Sexbomb Girls, they Knew it from Sak Mo to Laban o Bawi, they knew it upto Ryza Mae and they knew it for 36 years and they will know what's the next big thing will be.
