American Idol 9 Recap: Top 12 Boys Performance

Last Thursday on American Idol 9, it was the Top 12 boy's time to take the centerstage and impress the judges and the people of America to get votes. And I think it's safe to say that the boys are better than the girls.

Todrick Hall - "Since You been Gone" (Kelly Clarkson) - Ellen said "You're such a great performer...I live that you did something diffrent with it". Kara and Randy thought that the song was over re-arranged. Simon said “I thought it was a crazy arrangement of the song..murdered the original song…it was verging on stupid what you just did.”.

Aaron Kelly - "Here Comes Goodbye" (Rascall Flatts) - Simon said "It actually was quite a good performance...you look as if you're embarassed to be there". Kara, Randy and Ellen liked it.

Jermaine Sellers - "Get Here" - Judges agreed that the song was quite to old for Jermaine. Simon said "You totally blown up your opportunity with that".

Tim Urban - "Apologize" (OneRepublic) - Simon said "We absolutely made the right decision the first time around by not putting you through based on that performance". Tim Urban did'nt really qualified for the Top 24, he is only a replacement for the disqualified Chris Golightly.

Joe Munoz - "You and I Both" (Jason Mraz) - Ellen liked it, Randy thought it was not the right song choice but Joe managed to work it out. Kara thought it was the best so far. Simon thought it was an ok, safe and forgettable performance.

Tyler Grady - "American Woman" (Guess Who) - Simon says, “People are going to remember that performance…partly for the wrong reasons…it doesn’t feel natural…you’ve got to start changing it up.”. All judges agreed that Tyler's 70's get up does'nt make a quite good impression.

Lee Dewyze - "Chasing Cars" (Snow Patrol) - Randy and Kara thought that his song choice is not appropriate for his voice quality. But Ellen and Simon like it, Simon said “I thought this was the best performance by a mile…this guy is a naturally good singer…I fought for you to be here…don’t do bad company..do what David Cook did with Lionel Richie…I think you are going to do well in this competition…”.

John Park - "God Bless The Child" - Simon said "You've got to have an incredible voice to take on that song and you have'nt...you hav'nt got an incredible voice...it came over very flat and interstingly zero emotion...it's a copy cat Michael Buble performance".

Michael Lynche - "This Love" (Maroon 5) - Ellen, Randy and Kara like it but as usual Simon opposed the three and said "you're like the front act before the main act...it was like a vague jazzy version of that song".

Alex Lambert - "Wonderful World" (James Morrison) - Simon said "that was the most uncomfortable performnace of the night". Kara said "You sounded very much like James Morrison...that's a problem but a huge compliment...it's all there, it's not together. Randy said "do it with conviction...pull it together". Ellen thought Alex got the potential but needs more and compares him to a banana needs to be ripen.

Casey James - "Heaven" (Brian Adams) - Kara said "I did'nt recognized you with you're shirt on...you sounded pitchy while I was resting in you're arms...you're not only and eye candy but and ear candy". Randy and Ellen liked Casey's performance. Simon said "We were both cursed with good looks...you chose the right song...honest, likable, and sincere...this was the best I've heard from you".

Andrew Garcia - "Sugar We're Going Down" (Fallout Boy) - Simon said "I was disappointed with that to be honest with you...it was serious...too indulgent and not original enough." The judges thought that Andrew did better in the Hollywood rounds when he did a cover of Paula Abdul's song.
