GMA-7's Obsession With My Love From The Star

The Kapuso Network creative people are so obssesed with their Korean drama "My Love from the Star" which airs weekdays before 24 Oras. Since day 1, the GMA-7 public affairs team deployed their field correspondents and their mission is to go around from house to house and see if residents are watching the MLFTS and ask people why they are watching it, and of course the people they interviewed all says the same thing, "maganda", "nakakakilig", "ang guwapo ng bida" and blah blah blah.

And whether the GMA-7 people admit it or not, it's clearly evident that all of of them became a stalker of actor Kim Soo-hyun who plays the lead star of MLFTS, they are following his every move, showing his appearances whether in Korea or HongKong and even showing his Tweets.

And what disgust me most is that the Kapuso Network won't stop their, they have this thing called My Love From The Star Kilig Throwback which airs the replays of the Korean drama every Sundays. It seems they want to have MLFTS overload, this incident reminds me of what ABS-CBN did during the Meteor Garden over 10 years ago.

"Bitin ba kayo? aminin" That's what the GMA-7 voice over says in the MLFTS kilig throwback teaser, but that's not the case for every televiewers, only the K-Pop fans loves what's happening, the reality is that there is no MLFTS fever, K-Pop fans have already seen the entire series in DVDs and internet, they can even tell what happened in every episodes with their eyes closed. We are already in the Youtube era, it is a lot easier to watch asian series in the internet and no matter how TV Networks exert a lot of efforts to come up with another Meteor Garden or Jewel in The Palace, it can never be.

What we want for the Kapuso Network is just to put an end to this madness. We want quality local shows and fresh talents with real talents, we don't need canned shows. And as far as My Love from the Star goes, I only compare it to a 90s alien themed comedy movie starring Jimmy Santos, itnis called "Wooly Booly: Ang Klasmeyt kong Alien". Now that's a throwback.
