Joey De Leon Speaks

TV host Comedian Joey De Leon speaks about the intrigues about Eat Bulaga's special presentation held at Los Angeles.

Last night on 24 Oras, Eat Bulaga host Joey De Leon clarified the write ups that was published in a certain publication that Eat Bulaga's recently held show at Los Angeles was not successful. According to Joey he has no plan on answering about the write up, but that article was quite a demolition job against the show, and it was too much.

Joey even added said "Kami, ipinalalabas namin. Ewan ko yung iba na sabi nila successful daw ang show nila, pero hindi nila ipalalabas."

But the thing that made Joey a dismayed about the write up is the fact the tabloid where the article was published was a sister publication company for Manila Bulletin which he works for , he has his own column called "De Leon's Den. Because of this incident Mr. De Leon said that he will immediately resign from Manila Bulletin.

This coming August 2 and 4, GMA 7 will air the 2 part episode of Eat Bulaga's show in Los Angeles, and we will see whether the show is successful or not. All the cast are present plus special guests Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes and real life couples Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo.

Montreal Screw Job

Just this past week I was browsing on the web and I happened tosee the video of WWE's Survivor Series in 1997, it was the match for the WWE Championship between Bret "The Hitman" Hart and "HBK" Shawn Michael.

That video brought me back the memories of the early WWE days. That match was the most controversial match in the entire Pro-Wrestling history. That match was called "The Montreal Screw job", why it was given that name? For big WWE fans who can recall that match. it was obvious that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon screwed Bret Hart out of the WWE title. For years I've been wondering why McMahon screwed Bret Hart, until 2006 the details of that incident was documented in Bret Hart's DVD released by WWE. But I was unfortunate to get that DVD so I myself took my own research and I found out about the whole incident.

During those days WWF(now WWE) was suffering from financial losses due to a tough competition against WCW(World Championship Wrestling) so Vince McMahon advised Hart that he could move WCW and would even allow him to use the character of "Hitman". Bret Hart was hesitating at first. But finally a negotiation between Hart and WCW took place. With Hart finally signed a contract with WCW McMahon advised Hart that he needs to relinquish the WWF Championship because he was worried that Bret Hart might appear in WCW with his WWF Championship belt like what female wrestler Alundra Blaze did when she dump the Women's Championship into the trash in a live WCW broadcast. Vince talked to both Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels about the coming Pay-Per-View Survivor series but Bret Hart insisted, he agrees to loose in any place but not in his hometown of Montreal Canada, and even Michaels wouldn't wanna loose against Hart. So Vince McMahon along with other cahoots set up a master plan.

The original set up on how the match would end will start with the referee knocked down and Shawn Michaels will lock Bret Hart it's own submission hold "The Sharpshooter", but Bret Hart using his resiliency will reverse the hold, then Shawn Michaels will tap out but there's no referee to ring the bell and declare Bret as the winner. Bret Hart would then break the hold and try to revive the referee but from behind Michaels would hit Bret Hart the "Sweet Chin Music" and attempts a pin, another referee will come to count 3 but the entire Hart Foundation Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhard would break the count and then Shawn's DX buddies Triple H and Chyna would come to Shawn's aide which will cause a brawl that would end up in a double disqualification.

But it didnt turn out to be as planned, just before that match began, it seems that the fans already know that Bret Hart would be screwed because information about Hart's transfer to WCW have already leaked and some Wrestlers and even his brother Owen advised him to be alert. But Bret Hart put all his trust to referee Earl Hebner, the key to the screw job. Michaels locked the Sharpshooter on Bret, but he intentionally tighten the hold so Bret wouldn't reverse it and he didn't gave his feet to Hart so it will not have any chance on breaking the hold. Referee Earl Hebner who was expected to be unconscious until Hart reverses the hold immediately got up and calls for the bell making it appear that he saw Bret Hart tapping out. And at ringside WWE Chairman forced the timekeeper to ring the bell by throwing an elbow at it.

After that match the fans got mad throwing garbage on the ring, securities surrounded the ring, then Bret Hart spit right to McMahon'c face and McMahon asked Michaels to take the Championship belt and leave immediately and was escorted by Triple H and Geraldine Brisco. Hart was irate and destroyed TV monitors. McMahon tried to talk to Bret Hart inside the locker room but Bret hit him in the face.

The WWF earned many criticisms and that incident sunk the show in the ratings even more. But after that the character of McMahon as an evil and arrogant boss was created and marked the start of the Attitude Era that put the WWF on top once again ousting it's rival WCW.

And it seems that Bret Hart have already forgiven Vince, in fact he accepted the WWE Hall of Fame last 2006 at Wrestle Mania.

Correction

I would like to make some corrections about the facts and figures which I have posted on my article Pinoy Idol vs. Pinoy Dream Academy.

I received a comment from someone which I guess a big Pinoy Dream Academy fan, and she corrected what I have written and said that Ryan Agoncillo never hosted Pinoy Dream Academy. And she was right, Ryan Agoncillo never hosted Pinoy Dream Academy in it's first season, it was Toni Gonzaga, Nikki Gil and Sam Milby, my memories might have got mixed up. Because earlier before Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 started airing, it was rumored that Ryan Agoncillo will host the contest but he was replaced by Billy Crawford.

I would like to apologize for that one. But about what I have written that the First Season of PDA was quashed because of low ratings, it's true, I have read a lot of write ups before that PDA suffered from low ratings and some even said that ABS-CBN spend too much money for the show but it's not worth it because no advertisers are coming in. But that quashing happened when PDA was just starting, the show finally gained popularity and interest from the viewers when it's first winner Yeng Constantino released her hit single "Hawak Kamay" which made her popular even though she has not yet won the contest, and I guess that song became her advantage to winning the PDA Season 1. And comparing to Philippine Idol before, PDA Season 1 is indeed a top rater.

PDA can now be considered a Star Maker, because it's first winner Yeng Constantino is now a multi-platinum selling Recording star, unlike Philippine Idol before the winner is no show. And compare it to the winners of GMA 7's "Pinoy Pop Superstar" it's winners might have released an Album but those did not became quite a hit.

Now we have to watch out for both Pinoy Idol and Pinoy Dream Academy, which talent search will produce the future hit makers?

Go Red Bull Go!

The Red Bull has a big chance of taking the PBA 2008 Fiesta Cup Championship as the Barakos clinched the 2ND Automatic Semifinals slot in this years Conference.

Right from the start of the 2008 PBA Fiesta Cup, Red Bull has been unstoppable. They've had a close fight against Coca Cola for the top spot, and the reason is because of the Automatic Semifinals spot that will be give to the top two teams. And it was almost seemed impossible for Red Bull to get to where they are right now because they lost some of their key players, and what's left are just some new comers and bench squads. But after a decisive 85-81 victory against Sta Lucia Realty, Red Bull ended up no. 2 in the classification round with an impressive 11-6 win-loss slate next to Air21 Express with a 12-6 record.

So the Red Bull Barako squad has a brighter look at the championship, they can take a long rest or practice different plays and player combinations as the await for their opponent for the Semifinal Round.

Actually you've gotta give credit for the entire Red Bull team, including their head coach Yeng Guiao. What they've showing is truly amazing. They are the team that traded most of their Key Players in the likes of Rico Villanueva, Lordy Tugade, Larry Fonacier and the last player they traded was Junthy Valenzuela and they did not took any replacement except two future draft picks and yet they finished no.2, and last year it wasn't bad for the team because they still managed to get to the semis round.

The reason for this could be because of their team work and resiliency, they might not have the best defense of the league but all players contributes, and they have a nice ball movement, they always look for the open man. And their key players Cyrus Baguio, Leo Najorda, Celino Cruz, Mick Penisi, Topex Robinson etc. are giving the team a quality playing time.

If other teams are trying to create a strong team by acquiring the best players and making their team star studded, Red Bull is not, they are strong because of team work. Other teams are have the strongest and biggest line-ups but are in the bottom of the team standings but Red Bull without star players are on top.

So Red Bull, keep it up and good luck!

Joaquin Bordado Finale

Joaquin Bordado's final two episode is set to be the most exiting and action packed finale of the year.

On it's final week, Joaquin(Robin Padilla) discovered that it was his son Jimboy who is the real recipient of an evil power from the "Sylvaria" and not his wife Sofia(Iza Calzado). Joaquin's final mission is to kill the recipient of that power even if it was his own flesh and blood. Joaquin hesitated but because of his son Jimboy's free will, and because the fate of the earth hangs in a balance and the only way to save the world is to kill his son he decided to do so.

But just when he thought that the crisis is over after killing the root of evil, he was wrong, because his mentor (Pen Medina) warned him that evil will still arrive because his heart and soul was not focused in fulfilling his final mission.

Now evil has aroused and it aims to destroy all living creatures. lead by the evil Cefiro (John Regala), demons are coming to destroy the world.

What does the future hold for the Earth? Joaquin and his powerful "Borda" be enough to destroy evil? And how about Sofia, will she be possessed by evil and fight her beloved Joaquin? Tune in for the answers tonight and tomorrow.

Reminder, the final episode of Joaquin Bordado will be live tomorrow, so don't miss it.

Another thing Lobo on ABS-CBN starred by Angel Locsin will also end tomorrow, Robin and Angel were former Tag teams on GMA's Asian Treasure. Wala lang, naisip ko lang, para may intriga.

Robby Navarro is Out!

Last Sunday, Pinoy Idol held it's 3rd elimination night, and it was so far the most controversial.

Considered one of the most talented and could be the first Pinoy Idol Robby Navarro got ousted from Pinoy Idol after getting the lowest votes from the viewers. Along with him in the bottom three were Daryl and Sue Ellen. Host Raymond Gutierrez first called Sue Ellen to sit down for she will be staying for another week, leaving Daryl and Robby. But just before the name of the one who will leave the contest, judge Wyngard Tracy appealed to the voters to please vote the one who is talented and deserving to be the first Pinoy Idol, not because of popularity, face value or anything else. After Raymond announced that Daryl will stay for another week and that Robbie is going, it was clear, that Wyngard said those things because they knew that it was Robby who will no longer be in the contest.

Perhaps it's the most disappointing result, I thought that it was Daryl who will be eliminated, but he got lucky again. And the most disgusting to see is that Daryl seemed to be happy about the result, he doesn't realize that he is not deserving to remain in the contest. I think this guy will stay in the contest for a long time although many times the judges said that his performance is just for a school program.

WWE 2008 Draft Pick

The World Wrestling Entertainment has just held it's annual Draft Pick. And as usual, no one was exempted from that Draft, Superstars, Announcers, Divas and even Champions now has a chance to shine in their new brands.

This years biggest turnaround for the WWE Draft was Triple H, the WWE Champion being drafted from Raw to his new brand Smackdown, right from the start Triple H was the flag bearer of WWE's banner show Monday Night Raw, and I know many have thought that it will stay that way, but now The Game was drafted to Smackdown still the WWE Champion. But I'm sure Triple H will always be on the top of his game and his addition to the Smackdown roster will keep the brand better. And the latest about Triple H, he will defend his WWE Championship against Edge at The Great American Bash.

Now on the side of Monday Night Raw, The Animal Batista is back where his career started as Evolution's Animal. I thought Batista will never get drafted to Raw because John Cena is there, unless John Cena will get drafted to Smackdown, because this two are the new blood of Pro-Wrestling, they should be in separate brand, but now both of them are working under the same banner. Another fast rising Superstar CM Punk is now working for Raw. And he shocked everyone after cashing in his Money in The Bank against Edge and he is now the New World Heavyweight Champion.

Other Superstars drafted were Carlito, Mr Kennedy, Big Daddy V, Shelton Benjamin, Jeff Hardy, Umaga were drafted to Smackdown. Chuck Palumbo, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio and Kane are now on Raw. While Finlay, Hornswoggle now on ECW.

Another huge turnaround is the jump of long time Raw announcer Jim Ross to Smackdown and Smackdown's Michael Cole to Raw.

I'm sure this Superstars will never be the same again, because each WWE brands has different environment, Raw is a Live TV show, while Smackdown and ECW are taped. Good Luck to them.
